FREELANCE ARTIST

Jessica Brennan has a bachelor's degree in Fine Art from the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Brennan has accomplished facilitating success through freelance work since 2016. She produces work over a variety of mediums including most popularly- oil and acrylic paint, ink, and graphite, but also ventures into photography and sculptural work. She commonly draws inspiration from Japanese artwork and tattoos.

A majority of Brennan’s work is for clients doing commission based work. She has sold custom pieces since she was a freshman in high school and has clients globally. Her most popular request is for custom oil paintings. 

The philosophy behind being a commission based artist is very important to Brennan. She feels as though the foundation of being an artist is self expression. However, many people without artistic abilities rarely have the opportunity to see visual manifestations of the ideas in their heads. Therefore, Brennan hopes to materialize client's visions and act as a "Visual Translator" and give each individual the gift of physically seeing the beauty of their idea. This is the purpose that drives her to create. A single piece with large impact on an individual is as rewarding to her as front line in a gallery.

As far as Brennan’s personal practice, there is a high concentration in visually exciting work. She entices this excitement through use of color, scale, and surrealist imagery. Because of her interest in the interaction of the elements to each piece and the reaction from others, her concepts often emerge after completion. Brennan’s philosophy as an artist in one about self reflection and awareness. By working instinctually and then reflecting as to what the underlying motivation or interest in that imagery, there is a new element of self-understanding.
